Nobel Resources Identifies New Mineralized Porphyry Copper System at Cuprita Project, Chile
TSXV: NBLC
Overview
Nobel Resources Corp. has announced the identification of a new mineralized copper porphyry system at its Cuprita project in northern Chile. The Company is conducting the first-ever diamond drill program on the property, which commenced in January 2026. According to the press release, drill hole CUP004, the fourth hole in the program, intersected more than 100 meters of copper-bearing, mineralized porphyry.
The Company noted that assays are pending for all drilling completed to date and will be disclosed when received. Nobel cautioned that it is not expected that the entire interval will be of commercially exploitable grade, however, the Company described the technical results this early in the program as highly encouraging, citing the large-target nature of porphyry systems.
Key Highlights
- Drill hole CUP004 intersected more than 100 meters of copper-bearing, mineralized porphyry in the Company's first-ever drill program at Cuprita.
- From 218 meters depth, the Company reported a marked increase in tourmaline veins and a transition into intrusive breccia with porphyry clasts, with portable XRF copper values up to 1,700 ppm within the breccia.
- A sulfide-rich interval from 285.5 m to 382 m is characterized by increasing quartz-sulfide veins with disseminated pyrite, chalcopyrite, and locally bornite. Portable XRF readings reached up to 2.9% copper in chrysocolla-bearing veinlets and 2.6% copper in pyrite-chalcopyrite veinlets.
- The Company identified an extensive lithocap mapped over at least 1,000 m in length and 300 m in width, with new outcrop exposures suggesting the alteration zone could extend over 2 km by 1 km under overburden cover.
- The lithocap sits within a broader soil anomaly zone defined by copper values above 200 ppm, reaching a maximum of 9,000 ppm copper in soils.
- Drill holes CUP003 and CUP004 confirmed vertical alteration zoning beneath the lithocap, transitioning from argillic to phyllic and propylitic alteration, which the Company described as a characteristic feature of large porphyry copper hydrothermal systems.
- A planned step-out hole (CUP005), approximately 200 meters from CUP004, is presently being collared.
Strategic Context
According to the Company, the Cuprita project is located within the Paleocene porphyry copper belt in northern Chile, in a structural setting similar to major deposits including El Salvador, Cerro Colorado, Spence, Sierra Gorda, and Fortuna. Nobel's Chilean technical team identified key geological and geophysical characteristics typically associated with mineralized porphyry copper systems in this region through exploration surveys conducted over the past year.
The Company highlighted several geological and geophysical parameters guiding its drill targeting: widespread copper mineralization in outcrops and an extensive copper geochemistry anomaly, the presence of extensive tourmaline breccia zones (a common pathfinder for porphyry copper projects in the region), and an IP anomaly and magnetic low associated with the target area. Vernon Arseneau, COO of Nobel, stated that in his over 35 years of exploring in Chile, it is very rare to find such an extensive new lithocap with associated mineralization and geophysical anomalies that has never been drilled.
The Company noted that portable XRF measurements are point-source readings on a portion of whole drill core and should not be considered representative of overall intercept grades. Formal assay results will be disclosed when received.
What to Watch Next
- Formal assay results from all drilling completed to date, expected to be disclosed when received from the laboratory.
- Results from the planned step-out hole CUP005, currently being collared approximately 200 meters from CUP004.
- Continued diamond drilling results from the broader Cuprita drill program.
